The Montessori Schoolhouse is the oldest authentic Montessori school in Tucson, founded in 1974 by Regine Ebner, M.Ed. The school provides a Preschool, Kindergarten, Elementary and Middle School program of education based on the philosophy of Maria Montessori. The Montessori Schoolhouse has been recognized as one of Tucson’s best early education programs and was ranked by Niche.com as the #3 elementary school in the Tucson area in 2020. In 1997 The Montessori Schoolhouse became a charter school and the Upper Elementary classroom was added in 1998, when the school expanded to two locations. Since receiving a charter for grades K-6 in 1997, The Montessori Schoolhouse has been an award-winning public school and has ranked among the top-performing public schools in the state. We now offer a rich Middle School program as well, through 8th grade.
